Hupfeld developed a range of piano orchestrions of which this is one of the more advanced models.

They were designed for use in cafes (mainly on the continent) and were normally coin operated.

This instrument has an ‘evening’ switch which causes it to play more softly.

Musical Museum


The Museum’s founder first heard of this instrument being in a dealers shop in Fulham. It had been painted and looked smart but did not play. Later he came across it again in a barn near Folkestone and managed to buy it
